spaciousness
Spaciousness is a painting exhibition presented in 2005 at Pagane Gallery in Sofia. The project unfolds through the multiple meanings of the Bulgarian word prostor: open sky and freedom, but also the everyday clothesline. In the central triptych, the human figures hang like garments yet also seem to hover, suspended between the weight of the ordinary and an impulse toward the sublime. Collaged fragments, textile traces and painted layers transform a mundane gesture into an image of dream, silence and inner space. The poem printed on the invitation does not explain the paintings; it forms part of the exhibition’s atmosphere—another layer in which spaciousness moves from the material and everyday toward the poetic.
location and collections
Works in a public setting and a foundation collection
The three parts of the triptych are permanently integrated into the central foyer and corridor area of Block 10 at the Technical University of Sofia, home to the Faculty of German Engineering Education and Industrial Management (FDIBA). The work can be viewed by students, faculty and visitors during the building’s opening hours.
The two paintings measuring 120 × 90 cm and the painting measuring 100 × 60 cm are held in the collection of the St. Cyril and St. Methodius Foundation.
