collage as a method of form-giving in design
revised authorial version · 2026
Fragment, Transformation, and Identity
The article examines collage not only as an artistic technique, but as a method of form-giving and a mode of design thinking. Through fragmentation, juxtaposition, layering, material transformation, and integration, it considers how heterogeneous parts can form a new structural and semantic whole.
The text is a substantially revised authorial version of a 2011 paper. The new edition introduces a clarified terminology, updated sources, an explicit research question, and verified image data. The Bulgarian and English versions follow the same argument; the English text is an adapted academic translation.
